Don't worry, this is not the vehicle i use for teaching pupils.....
When not carrying out driving lessons in the Isle of Sheppey, l have another vehicle to 'play with'.
'Austin' was built in 1930 and is a 'box' saloon. He was fully restored in the early 80's, and used for 2-3 years, until his owner became too ill to drive. He then spent a number of years disused and foregotten. I bought him in early 2006 as a non runner, and after some extensive mechanical rebuilding he is now roadworthy and road legal.
Driving Austin is very different to the school car, with no indicators or brake lights, hand signals are the only way to let other motorists know what we are doing. Worth remembering this is how ALL cars were in 1930. Thankfully modern cars have evolved with every conceivable aid to make driving easier.
